The Philippine national football team is advancing to the semi-final round of the AFF Suzuki Cup after forcing a scoreless draw against Myanmar yesterday in Vietnam.
Inquirer.net reports that the Philippines "tempered their offense (and) loaded up on defense," like what they did in their recent win against defending champion Vietnam. Philippine Coach Simon McMenemy said, "Myanmar played it well in the first half. They made it difficult for us but we defended with everything we had."
British-Filipino goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, a key player in the match against Vietnam, gave "another superb performance," according to Inquirer.net.
The Philippine team will play against Indonesia in a home-and-away series this month, one of the games of which could be held in Bacolod City.
Before the Myanmar match, the Philippine football team thanked their fans.
