Ronald Singson, Antonio del Rosario top House absentee list; Imelda Marcos, Dato Arroyo among best attendees
Ilocos Sur Rep. Ronald Singson had the most absences in the first six months of the 15th Congress, reports ABS-CBNNews.com. Currently out on bail in Hong Kong for drug-related charges, he missed all 45 plenary sessions from July 1 to December 31, 2010.
Davao del Norte Rep. Antonio del Rosario did not attend all 45 sessions as well. He is allegedly being treated for cancer abroad, an ABS-CBNNews.com source said. Singson, del Rosario and Western Samar Rep. Milagrosa Tan-who was absent for 30 sessions-were away on "official business," according to House records.
Laguna Rep. Evita Arago was on sick leave for 22 days due to her delicate pregnancy but she told ABS-CBNNews.com that she continues to "file bills and engage in district work."
Meanwhile, Camarines Sur Rep. Dato Arroyo, son of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, was among the lawmakers with perfect attendance. His mother, who now represents the second district of Pampanga, attended 38 sessions, while his brother, Ang Galing Pinoy partylist Rep. Mikey Arroyo, was present for 28.
Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos, a former First Lady, only missed a single session.
Out of the 283 House representatives, only 43 consistently attended plenary sessions in the first six months of the 15th Congress, according to House records cited by ABS-CBNNews.com.
