GMA and Dado Arroyo propose national online pet registry
Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her son Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado "Dado" Arroyo have recently filed a bill seeking to establish a national pet registry. According to ABS-CBN News, the former President said the growing number of missing pets prompted them to propose the database that will include missing pets and found strays.
Under the bill, the online registry will store pets’ medical records, emergency contacts, tattoos, photos and certification, among others. "(It) should be equipped with a search engine so that all reports of lost pets can be uploaded and categorized, enabling users to find possible matches," Arroyo said.
If the bill is approved, the director of the Bureau of Animal Industry will be mandated to establish and maintain the online pet registry.
