Over 60 dressed-to-the-nines Barbie dolls filled the Power Plant Mall lobby over the weekend for "Barbie: Pretty in Pink," a charity auction of Barbie dolls wearing creations by the country’s top designers. Tessa Prieto Valdes, who herself looked like one of the Barbies come alive, spearheaded the fund-raising event that drew the participation of countless designers such as Rajo Laurel, Lulu Tan Gan, James Reyes, Oj Hofer, among others, as well as fashion design students from Slim’s; and the attendance of Manila’s most charitable fashionistas. Around P250,000 was given to the following charities: The Philippine Red Cross, Bantay Bata 163, Tahanan Sta. Luisita, Gifts and Graces and the Assumption HS 81 Foundation. Generous donations were made by HSBC and Smart Infinity, the Power Plant Mall provided the exhibit space for free and Red Ribbon made the Barbie Cakes served at the event.
