Pinoy designer Alan del Rosario presents spring collection at LA Fashion Week; Glee star Lea Michele raves about his designs
Fashion designer Alan del Rosario, the first Filipino Oscar Designer Challenge finalist, showcased 30 dresses from his Burlapp spring collection at the recent Los Angeles Fashion Week, reports GMA News Online.
One of Del Rosario’s celebrity clients is Glee star Lea Michele. While wearing a Burlapp piece on set, she once told GMA News correspondent Janet Susan Nepales, "I love the Burlapp clothes! They are so comfortable, stylish and hip." At the Golden Globes in January, Michele "screamed with delight upon meeting" Del Rosario, according to Nepales.
Del Rosario’s Hollywood clients also include Michelle Pfeiffer, Debra Messing and Paris Hilton, plus 1978 Miss Universe Margaret Gardiner, reports GMA News Online. His pieces have been featured on the reality shows The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency.
According to GMA News Online, Del Rosario graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise in Los Angeles, the same school as his friend and famed designer Monique Lhuillier. A Bob Mackie Fashion Design awardee and scholar, Del Rosario was also named California’s Designer of the Year and Gen Art LA’s Fresh Face for eveningwear.
