Marlene Aguilar dares judge in son Jason Ivler’s case to a fistfight
(SPOT.ph) Marlene Aguilar, mother of road rage suspect Jason Ivler, dared Judge Bayani Vargas to a fistfight yesterday at her son’s murder trial in Quezon City, reports Inquirer.net. "Mano-mano na lang tayo, isang round lang (Let’s fight, just one round)," Aguilar told Vargas.
Aguilar, "known to be prone to theatrics" according to Inquirer.net, also accused the judge of irregularities. "Ipapakulong ko kayong lahat kapag nakalaya ang anak ko (I'll have you all jailed once my son is freed)." Ivler also loudly said in court, "It's a waste of taxpayers' money (to bring) me here every time."
Vargas told Ivler’s lawyer Princess Abante to keep Aguilar outside the courtroom. "Don’t let her come in here," Inquirer.net quoted him as saying.
Outside, Aguilar said in Saksi report, "Judge Vargas, kung lalaki ka, suntukan tayong dalawa. ’Pag hindi mo ako pinatulan, wala kang bayag." ("Judge Vargas, if you’re really a man, let’s fight. If you refuse, you have no balls.")
According to Inquirer.net, Aguilar blew up after Vargas denied their request to have Ivler excused from attending the hearing yesterday. Saksi also reports that Aguilar was angered by the ballistics test that went missing, as well as the gun that killed Renato Ebarle Jr., the alleged victim of Ivler.
The court is deciding whether to cite Aguilar and Ivler for contempt. Senior State Prosecutor Richard Fadullon told Saksi, "There should be sanctions because it (the outburst) disrupts the proceedings and it should not be tolerated for whatever reason."
