3 Pinoy suspects in US$1-million jewelry theft reportedly arrested
(SPOT.ph) Three of the seven Filipinos suspected of stealing a US$1-million diamond-and-emerald necklace in Istanbul last month have reportedly been arrested, according to ABS-CBN News. Details regarding the identities of the apprehended suspects have not been disclosed and the missing necklace was not with them.
Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) General Manager Jose Angel Honrado said the four other suspects managed to leave the airport undetected, ABS-CBN News reported yesterday. He added that the Department of Transportation and Communication has formed a fact-finding team to investigate how the four slipped out of the airport.
Earlier, six of the seven suspects were identified through security camera footage: Janice Apostol, Armando Fajardo, Edgardo Ramos, Cesar Galvez, Rosita Panlilio and Herbie Cruz. The suspects reportedly flew to Dubai after the theft at the 32nd Istanbul Jewelry Expo and then went back to the Philippines. The National Bureau of Investigation is looking into the case.
