Manny Pacquiao named Best Paid Athlete of 2010 by ESPN The Magazine
(SPOT.ph) ESPN The Magazine has named Filipino boxing champ and Sarangani congressman Manny Pacquiao one of the Best Paid Athletes of Year 2010, reports PEP.ph. The Fighter of the Decade earned $32 million (about P1.38 billion) from the two matches he won last year: against Joshua Clottey in March and against Antonio Margarito in November.
Pacquiao tied with American baseball player Alex Rodriguez whose 2011 salary is said to be $32 million as well. ESPN’s figures exclude "endorsements, appearance fees, sponsorship money and other sources of extra income, unless otherwise noted," according to the publication’s website.
Following Pacquiao and Rodriguez are Formula One champion Kimi Raikkonen, with $26,333,333 from his 2010 race winnings and severed F1 contract, and NBA star Kobe Bryant with $24,800,000 from his 2010 to 2011 salary.
