Internationally-acclaimed hotel chef Chanin Jakassed and his team will be in town on May 2 to 15 to dish out luxurious Thai flavors in Paseo Uno's Thai Food Festival at the Mandarin Oriental, Manila.

Paseo Uno's lunch and dinner buffet will feature Thai favorites such as Sa Tay Gai (charcoal-grilled chicken satay with peanut sauce and cucumber relish); Tom Yum Goong (spicy prawn soup with fresh herbs and straw mushroom) and Goong Phad Nam Prik Pao (stir-fried prawn with baked chili paste and basil).

Those who want to recreate Thai cuisine and learn to make Phla Pla Tuna (spicy lemongrass salad with tuna loin) and Pa Neang Aok Ped Yang (duck breast in thick red curry) can sign up for Chef Chanin's cooking class on May 7, 9 a.m. The fee is P3,500 net, inclusive of a continental breakfast, a three-course lunch and a custom souvenir apron.


Moms also get a special treat on May 8, Mother's Day, as Paseo Uno offers buffet diners a chance to win vouchers for The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Manila, as well as the hotel's restaurants and bars.

Chef Chanin Jakassed has worked in Thailand's renowned hotels and resorts and in Seychelles. He is currently one of Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi, Chiang Mai's sous-chefs.
