Charice to star in rumored Miss Saigon movie?
(SPOT.ph) A movie version of the Broadway musical Miss Saigon is reportedly in the works and some are speculating that Filipino singing sensation Charice could be preparing for the starring role of Kim, the same role that won Filipino actress Lea Salonga a Tony Award.
According to Inquirer.net, the movie version is rumored to be directed by Lee Daniels, who helmed Precious that was produced by Oprah Winfrey. The talk show queen is one of the godparents of Charice, who has called the former her "fairy godmother" for "(making) all (her) dreams come true."
"Connect the dots: Oprah solidly supports the careers of both Charice and Lee. So, would Lee consider casting Charice as Kim?" Inquirer.net wrote. The news website also cited Charice’ high-profile Hollywood projects, including a recurring guest spot on Glee, which "seem to be priming her for the big time."
Inquirer.net added that Filipino-American singer Thia Megia, a Top 12 American Idol finalist this season, "might audition" for the role of Kim.
