Boy Abunda now Ladlad senior adviser, vows to help party-list get elected to Congress
(SPOT.ph) TV host and talent manager Boy Abunda has accepted the senior adviser post of the Ladlad party-list, reports Manila Bulletin. In a press conference yesterday, June 16, Abunda also denied stories that he took Ladlad's offer only to bolster a political career for himself.
"I've always been supportive of Ladlad in my own way but now is the time-this is the time-to step up my participation," Abunda said, adding that he considers his new role as "one of the most important chapters" in his life. Abunda also said that he will help disseminate information about the party-list and tell people about the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community.
Abunda admitted getting "hurt" for Ladlad when the group failed to receive Comelec accreditation last year. He vowed not only to avoid that scenario from happening again, but also promised to help win three congressional seats for the party-list in 2013.
Abunda, who last year declined President Noynoy Aquino's offer to be tourism secretary, said he has no political ambitions of his own. "I am not interested in legislative... If ever I run for office-if ever-it will be for governor of Easten Samar and not on 2013 but 2016."
