(SPOT.ph) From June 15 to July 15, Xin Tian Di at the Crowne Plaza features authentic Szechuan dishes cooked by chefs who've mastered the popular cuisine. Known for having a fiery-hot kick and a piercing aroma, Szechuan food is a delicious contrast of bold and delicate flavors that even non-spicy eaters will enjoy.
Chefs Fei Tang, Guozhang Li, and Li Yang will cook signature Szechuan food like Mapo Tofu, a combination of soft tofu with chili and bean based sauce cooked with minced beef; Kung Pao Chicken, one of the more popular Szechuan dishes made with chicken, peanuts, and chilies; Lapu Lapu Poached in Butter Soup, and the famous Fotiaoqiang or Buddha Jumped Over the Wall soup, a delicate broth with mellow flavors and an aroma even Buddha could not resist, or so they say. Other must-tries include: Braised Abalone with Bean Jelly, Sautéed Scallops with Spicy Garlic Sauce, Pickled Vegetables, Sautéed Calf Ribs with Hot Spicy Sauce, and Smoked Duck.
Primarily known for its super spicy fare, Xin Tian Di's Szechuan dishes also present various cooking techniques-salting, smoking, drying, and pickling-popularized by the Northern Chinese province, which produce a rich yet mellow taste profile. If you're up for an eating adventure, authentic Szechuan cuisine at Xin Tian Di fits the bill.
