Fil-Am wins Jeopardy twice, wins $53,000
(SPOT.ph) Twenty-nine-year-old Jericho Saria from Redwood City, California, became a two-time champion of popular American quiz show, Jeopardy, reports Balitang America. A former The Filipino Channel (TFC) employee, Saria's total winnings summed up to $53,000.
According to the report, Saria was born and raised in Stockton, California, and has been watching Jeopardy since he was a kid. Three years ago, he started taking the show's online test and found out in January that he was chosen to be a contestant on the show. Being unemployed at that time helped, Saria said. "I wake up and start studying... Have lunch, dinner, then go back to studying, go to sleep. This (was) pretty much my schedule for four weeks straight."
Most of his friends and former colleagues thought Saria was joking when he said he joined the show. "I'm really proud of him. Ever since I've known Jericho, he's always wanted to be on Jeopardy. Even when he was working (in TFC) I knew he was already trying to get on the show," said Saria's friend, Mitos Briones.
Saria first appeared on Jeopardy on June 2 where he won $29,000. The next day, he won again, and received another $24,000. His winning streak ended when he lost on June 6 but Saria said he plans to continue joining game shows. His next move is to compete on another popular show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire?.
