(SPOT.ph) Josephine "Jo" Ramos, the daughter of former President Fidel V. Ramos, passed away at 1 a.m. yesterday, June 27, reports ABS-CBN News. She was 54.
According to ABS-CBN News, her body was brought to the Kamagong Chapel in Funeraria Paz in Sucat, Parañaque City yesterday afternoon. The report also said that Jo previously underwent surgery to treat the cancer but the treatment failed to work. Ramos said in a Manila Bulletin report that his daughter hid her condition from the family for eight months and they thought she was only suffering from asthma.
Jo, one of the four daughters of President Ramos and his wife Amelita, was known as a water-skiing athlete who was part of the national team during the SEA Games in the 1970s. She was also a musical artist mentored by legendary piano professor Carmencita Guanzon-Arambulo, reports Manila Bulletin. She was also once a back-up singer for Gary Valenciano's Powerplay Band.
President Noynoy Aquino and Mayor Jun Bernabe of Paranaque attended the wake last night. The funeral is on Friday at the Manila Memorial Park. Jo is survived by her 17-year-old son, Gio, with estranged husband Lloyd Samartino.
