Former US ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney-whose confidential correspondence about the Philippines and its political leaders have been "WikiLeak-ed"-continues to be in the spotlight.

Interaksyon.com reports that the latest series of "Kenney cables" doing the rounds feature her assessment of President Noynoy Aquino after he paid a courtesy call to her home in January 2010.

Back then, P-Noy was still a senator and Kenney wrote that he "left the impression of a diffident, unassertive man continuing a political tradition handed on by his parents but not carving his own legacy."

Kenney added, "It remains unclear whether Aquino can turn his shy, reserved qualities into strengths." She  pointed out that he was "vague on specific policies he would pursue if he won office." However, she also said that he had "a relatively clean record with no baggage of scandals, which could be a distinct advantage."

Rather than get mad over this bad PR blast from the past, Malacañang is turning the other cheek.

According to the Interaksyon.com article, no official or diplomatic action will be taken against Kenney. Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte was quoted. "We are aware of the cables and, at the very least, we can say that the assessment was wrong," she said. "If you ask anybody now, the assessment was clearly wrong if we base it on the performance of the President."
