(UPDATED September 20, 10:15 p.m.) ABS-CBNNews.com reports, "A woman shot her husband inside a Quezon City mall on Tuesday evening, leaving him in critical condition."
The report quoted Superintendent Audi Madrideo, chief of Quezon City Police District Station 2, who revealed that suspect Shella Macapugay shot her husband Abel, who was working as a sales clerk at the lower ground floor of SM North EDSA.
The woman allegedly shot her husband because he wanted to end their marriage. After firing at him, she then pointed the gun at herself but was stopped by security guard Ricardo Inamac III. The report said that Inamac tried to seize the weapon from the suspect but was accidentally shot.
Inquirer.net reports that both the woman’s husband and the security guard were rushed to the Quezon City General Hospital. They were declared dead on arrival.
The Inquirer.net report quoted Senior Police Officer 2 Roldan Dapat of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of Quezon City Police District Station 2, who said that "charges were being readied against the suspect who is now under police custody." Dapat likewise added that "an investigation was ongoing to determine how Macapugay was able to carry a gun inside the shopping mall."
A GMA News Online report revealed: "The (woman) claimed her husband had another woman, and the illicit affair was the reason why she thought of shooting him and taking her own life, too."
