Binay denies saying he’ll run for president in 2016, clarifies: "I’m just aspiring to be president of PH"

Inquirer.net reports that Vice President Jejomar Binay denied saying that he was running for president in 2016.

Inquirer.net reports that Vice President Jejomar Binay denied saying that he was running for president in 2016.

Binay-who was in Bacolod as keynote speaker at the closing rites of the 20th Visayas Areas Business Conference and Expo at L Fisher Hotel on Saturday, September 17-said that his statement was merely taken out of context. "What I said is, ’I’m aspiring to become a president,’" he clarified.

Binay added that he would rather buckle down to work first. "Let us get down to work to fulfill President Noynoy's promises," he quipped. "There is a time for politics but not yet now." There’s still five years left in President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III’s term.

In a September 13, 2011 report, ABS-CBNNews.com quoted Binay, who had said, "Nangangarap akong maging presidente. Hindi ko naman itinatanggi yan." This was Binay’s reply when reporters asked him about his plans. The report revealed that Binay also said it would be "hypocritical" of him to deny his plans to run for Malacañang.
