( A welcome departure from the constantly buzzing caffeine hubs that dot the city, Tutto Domani is a cafe which fuses a stylish but fuss-free atmosphere with elegantly served good food. Located inside the lifestyle furniture shop, Domani, at the New World Renaissance Hotel in Makati, the café and its interiors are a quirky combo of sleek furniture pieces and cute collectibles such as KidRobot toys and Care Bears keychains. But aside from perfecting a quiet, retreat-from-the-crowd ambience, Tutto Domani dishes out satisfying café food-think sandwiches, pasta dishes and cakes perfect for a long lunch or lazy afternoon chat.

While the menu lists the usual hot and chilled options for coffee drinkers including frothy lattes, cappuccino, and affogato, it’ll be hard not to fall in love with the palate-pleasing Saffron Cream Sauce & Mushroom Truffle Sea Salt Pasta (P195) and Crepe Samurai (P65; P105 for takeout), a creamy soufflé-like dessert. Looking for something a little lighter? Try the French Crepes (P55 above) or Crounds (P60 for 4 pieces), light ensaymada-like pastry puffs filled with butter, cheese or chorizo.

On days when you find that you have the cafe all to yourself (and your iPod), you can ask the staff to play your music over their Philippe Starck parrot wireless speakers. People who have popped in for a quick go-see often come back with a laptop in hand while some have booked the place for intimate parties, shares Tutto Domani’s chef Anthony Yupangco. Who says you can’t combine coffee with relaxation?
