In his Philippine Daily Inquirer column, On Target, journalist Ramon Tulfo reports that Dean I. Chang, the U.S. Embassy's second secretary, cursed 22-year-old Princess Cordova after he nearly hit her with his car. The incident, which transpired on Friday, January 6, happened in the vicinity of Kaya Korean Restaurant on n Jupiter Street, Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City.

According to Cordova, Chang got out of his Toyota Forerunner and shouted at Cordova. He supposedly yelled: "You're a bitch, you're a bitch!" He appeared to be incensed because he nearly hit Cordova while she was crossing the driveway. Chang’s wife was in the passenger seat of the Toyota Forerunner.

Tulfo revealed: "Once inside the restaurant, Cordova told her uncle, Dindo Danao, an advertising executive, about the incident outside with Chang, Danao told her to go to Chang's table to apologize because he thought she was probably at fault. Cordova obeyed Danao and went to Chang to apologize."

To Cordova’s surprise, Chang was still hostile. He reportedly told her: "Next time I’ll run you over if you get in my way." At this point, Danao stepped in to defend his niece.  Chang allegedly turned to him and asked, "You wanna square off with me?"

Soon enough, policemen were called to the scene. Danao called Tulfo, who was his friend. Tulfo then revealed that he took note of the following details: One of Chang’s car stickers reads: ’Department of Defense, B6B 3C3, West Point, New York.’ Another sticker says: ’New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, 20-6-12, No. 0806947.’ He has a temporary plate: 097 Diplomatic."

Accordingt o Tulfo, Chang also called "another U.S. Embassy official" to come to his aid when the restaurant encounter heated up. However, the police could not hold Chang either. Chang just left the restaurant along with his wife and his supposed colleague.

Tulfo’s account did not say if they have gotten in touch with Chang.
