ABS-CBNNews.com reports that in a phone interview on Monday, March 5, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV claimed that "some retired military officers allied with former government officials are allegedly recruiting active soldiers to join a plot to unseat President Benigno ’Noynoy’ Aquino III."

However, Trillanes did not identify the people he was referring to. He only said that they are people who want to get back in power. He only said that he got the information "from Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) officers who are being recruited."

Meanwhile, Senator Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan said that he has not received any information about a brewing coup plot. Like Trillanes, Honasan was also involved in coup attempts in the past. Trillanes was part of the group that rose up against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Honasan led several coup attempts against former President Corazon Aquino.
