Philstar.com reports that Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino announced on Wednesday, April 18, that more U-turn slots in Metro Manila will be closed. According to Tolentino, the decision "was based on several complaints that instead of improving traffic flow, U-turn slots contributed to traffic problems." He noted that "there are at least 120 U-turn slots around Metro Manila."

The report pointed out that the MMDA "has already closed three U-turn slots in Quezon City: Commonwealth Avenue, Katipunan Avenue, and Quezon Avenue." Tolentino said the MMDA is also planning to a U-turn slot near the Libis area and one in the Pantranco area near Araneta in Cubao, Quezon City." He likewise said that the U-turn slot located in front of the old Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) at the Quezon Institute also needs to be "readjusted."
