Corona’s removal effective immediately, says Sen. Tito Sotto; P-Noy has 90 days to find replacement

In a phone interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer’sTJ Burgonio, Senator Tito Sotto discussed the fact that Chief Justice Renato Corona had been impeached and said, "As far as we’re concerned, (Corona’s penalty) immediately effective. The judiciary would know what to do. That’s out of our hands."

In a phone interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer’sTJ Burgonio, Senator Tito Sotto discussed the fact that Chief Justice Renato Corona had been impeached and said, "As far as we’re concerned, (Corona’s penalty) immediately effective. The judiciary would know what to do. That’s out of our hands." The report noted that the penaly for the impeached Chief Justice is "removal from public office and disqualification from public office."

 

The report further revealed that Malacañang said on Tuesday night, May 29, that President Noynoy Aquino would have 90 days to find Corona’s replacement.
