(SPOT.ph) Despite its name, The Cake Club by Diamond Hotel has much more to offer than just cakes. Their surprisingly complete menu is perfect for a complete meal, and is guaranteed to satisfy much more than just your sweet tooth.
For starters, The Cake Club offers a variety of soups and salads. The GM Salad (P210), with its pan-roasted mushrooms, crispy parmesan basket, baby greens, and shallot vinaigrette, is a great start to any meal. Follow it up with the Roasted Red Beet Soup (P190), which is both lovely to look at and good to eat-plus it’s really healthy, too! The earthy taste of roasted red beets is delicately balanced by goat cheese, and toasted almonds give the soup a wonderful crunch.
Be sure to try the Truffle Fries (P180). They may look like your standard French fry, but these are cooked in truffle oil and seasoned with sea salt flakes, adding a new dimension to the fastfood classic. Needless to say, these fries are a crowd favorite.
Another must-try is the Grilled Reuben (P310). Made with delectable homemade corned beef, sauerkraut, Emmental cheese, and Thousand Island dressing, all on perfectly toasted marble rye bread, this makes for a perfect main course. For vegetarians, the Red Beet Burger (P310) is meat-free but all-delicious, with its patty made of curry-spiced red beets, topped with goat cheese, arugula, and walnuts, all on a caraway ciabatta roll.
If you’re there on a weekend, treat yourself to a Foie Gras Macaroon (P150). The luscious-and filling-foie gras adds a heavy, salty texture. This treat is only available on Fridays and Saturdays.
With their variety of savory dishes, The Cake Club is definitely more than just a sweet stop. Drop by next time for a full, filling meal-but, of course, always save room for dessert!
