(SPOT.ph) Know what you like because you can afford to be choosy in this yoga studio.
Bliss Yoga is at the height of candor. No sign by the entrance. No wild decor. No intimidating figurines. The walls are painted muted puce and gray; the floors warm wood that softens the otherwise austere environment. The faint hum of meditation music blares softly in the background. No frills, describes studio director Monique Borja. Just straight-to-the-point practice where extravagance is evident only in their roster of available classes and highly experienced instructors (most of whom trained in India, the United States, and Australia).
From Mysore style (self-paced, self-practiced) to power yoga (Ashtanga), here, yoginis, dilettantes, and first-timers alike will find something that can cater to their lifestyle. Each curriculum is held at an open level, where one can stop to take a breather or add poses to increase difficulty. The instructor may also modify the postures to a person’s capability. Moreover, classes are spread out during the day, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., to fit one's schedule.
Tesa Celdran, one of Bliss Yoga’s 15 instructors, says personality is attached to the practice. She advises that it’s best to try out different classes to find a type that complements one’s needs. There’s the slower-paced Gentle Flow, the heated 75-minute Hot Flow, and the mentally and physically challenging Yoga Fundamentals. Apart from its obvious physical benefits, Bliss Yoga also stresses on "community"-with customers and teachers ultimately becoming friends after sessions. The studio’s name itself hints at the post-session effect. One will leave the studio sweat-stained, muscles tingling, and exhausted, but inexplicably-blissful and so utterly satisfied they’ll want more.
With a clientele that includes Diether Ocampo and Shaina Magdayao, Bliss Yoga is one studio that, like their students' physical, mental, and spiritual conditioning, is consistently on the rise. From its flagship space in Makati, the Greenhills branch is only the latest in what could potentially continue to be a string of successful yoga centers. Currently, an Alabang studio is in the works.
