Explosion damages several cars in National Housing Authority compound in Quezon City; Disgruntled informal settlers suspected of hurling grenade

ABS-CBNNews.com, citing a report by dzMM’s Dennis Datu, reveals that "an explosion rocked the National Housing Authority (NHA) compound in Quezon City a little past 12 noon on Monday, July 2." A bomb squad was sent to investigate the incident.

 

The report noted: "Authorities recovered the safety lever of an MK 2 hand grenade at the roof of the parking area. An initial investigation showed that the grenade was thrown from the nearby Maharlika Street. Several cars were damaged because of the incident. The explosion occurred at around 5:30 a.m. but it was already around 10:30 a.m. when the incident was reported to the police."

 

The report quoted NHA general manager Chito Cruz, who said "the blast may have been perpetrated by a disgruntled group of informal settlers."
