ABS-CBNnews.com reports that gays and lesbians are allowed at the Philippine Military Academy so long as they can comply with the regulations, including "preventing cross-dressing" and "not committing lewd acts."
"Once they are admitted to the Philippine Military Academy, they are required to behave the way the cadets are to behave," said PMA spokesperson Capt. Agnes Lynette Flores. She added that cross-dressing is forbidden and a display of gay antics is frowned upon.
In the report, PMA superintendent Maj. Gen. Nonato Alfredo Peralta clarifies that the academy does not prohibit members of the LGBT community from joining, adding that PMA is keeping up with transitions in Philippine culture. However, rules are rules, and cross-dressing is a violation.
