ABS-CBNNews.com reports that multi-awarded poet Marjorie Evasco is representing the Philippines in the UK’s Poetry Parnassus, dubbed as the "largest-ever gathering of poets from across the globe (104 of them)." Held at London’s Southbank Center, the event is part of the Cultural Olympiad celebrating the London 2012 Games. Evasco is also a lecturer at De La Salle University-Manila.
The report quoted Evasco, who said, "It's exhilarating, except there is maybe a problem with representation. I don't think one poet can represent the richness and the variety of Philippine literature and the traditions. I'm lucky that I'm the one, but I wish I could bring more Filipino poets."
The report noted that the Cultural Olympiad "continues in the UK in conjunction with the London 2012 Olympic, which runs from July 27 to August 12."
