Gloria Arroyo posts ₱1-million bail and is now back in her Quezon City home after 8 months of hospital detention

Perseus Echiminada of The Philippine Star reports that former president and current Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was released on Wednesday, July 25, "after posting ₱1-million bail for her temporary liberty in an electoral sabotage case involving alleged cheating in Maguindanao during the May 2007 mid-term elections."

Perseus Echiminada of The Philippine Star reports that former president and current Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was released on Wednesday, July 25, "after posting ₱1-million bail for her temporary liberty in an electoral sabotage case involving alleged cheating in Maguindanao during the May 2007 mid-term elections."

 

The report noted that Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Jesus Mupas granted Arroyo’s bail petition and Arroyo’s lawyers of Arroyo led by Atty. Ray Montri Arroyo immediately posted ₱1-million cash bond and secured an order for Arroyo's release. The report added that the RTC also said Arroyo could leave the country only after getting permission from the court.

 

The report pointed out that Arroyo "was freed after eight months of detention at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC)" and went directly to her home in La Vista, Quezon City.
