2 Pinoys make it to "2012 Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World" list

Sheila Crisostomo of The Philippine Star reports that two Filipinos-Dr. Edsel Maurice Salvana and Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino-made it to the "2012 Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP)" list.

Sheila Crisostomo of The Philippine Star reports that two Filipinos-Dr. Edsel Maurice Salvana and Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino-made it to the "2012 Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP)" list. Salvana was cited for his achievements and contribution in the field of health care (Humanitarian and/or Voluntary Leadership), while Aquino was cited for his contribution in social enterprise (Business, Economic and/or Entrepreneurial Accomplishment).

 

The report noted that Aquino is "the first cousin of President Noynoy Aquino, the son of Paul Aquino, younger brother of the late senator Ninoy Aquino." The report added that "the other TOYP winners are from Botswana, Catalonia, Ireland, Madagascar, Maldives, the UK, and Zimbabwe."

 

The report also quoted the U.S.-based Junior Chamber International (JCI), which stated on its website that "the TOYP was organized to ’formally recognize young people who excel in their chosen fields and create positive change.’"
