1,590 UST students stranded on campus due to deluge on Monday night, September 10

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that "at least 1,590 students of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila were stranded inside the university due to flooding triggered by heavy rains since Monday evening, September 10."

The report quoted UST Public Affairs Director Jovanna Fontanilla, who said in a statement, "Due to the numerous number of students stranded inside the campus and on the road as an aftermath of the sudden downpour followed by a flash flood that lasted until early morning, CLASSES IN ALL LEVELS are suspended today 11 September. This is to allow them to go home and rest. However, there is regular office work."

 

The ABS-CBNNews.com report revealed that as of 7:19 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11, "gutter-deep floods were still observed in streets surrounding the university in Sampaloc district."
