ABS-CBNNews.com reports that on Wednesday, September 12, Kris Aquino "praised Rico Puno, who resigned from his post as undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday, September 11." Aquino made the statement on her show, KrisTV.
The report quoted Aquino, who said, "I think also, it also shows his character that he stepped down. Because I think he also felt na unfair na yung criticism na binabato din kay Noy for sticking by him, so OK ’yun (Because I think he also felt it was unfair that President Noynoy Aquino was being criticized for sticking by him, so that’s OK)."
Aquino’s KrisTV guest co-host also said, "Alam mo kawawa naman si Rico bugbog palagi sa media. He has been receiving so many criticisms pero ang tingin ko...kilala ko si Rico noon pa...eh trabaho niya talaga ’yong saluhin ang anumang batikos para kay P-Noy. Saluhin ang anumang batikos sa departamento. Well, ganoon talaga ang buhay siguro (You know I pity Rico because the media made a punching bag out of him. He has gotten a lot of criticism but the way I see it...and I’ve known Rico for some time...it was his job to take the heat for P-Noy. To take the heat for the department. That’s life, I guess)."
