Two major Philippine telecoms (Globe and Smart) have been teasing the iPhone like crazy without officially unveiling anything. Globe recently sent a text message to all subscribers: "The latest phone is almost here!" Tellingly enough, it had the keyword "ip5" on it. They’ve also announced that they’ll be offering Nano-SIM cards for sale this month. The Nano-SIM, smaller than the Micro-SIM, will be used by the iPhone 5.

Smart has been more mum on the issue. However, as the first Philippine telco to offer LTE (the speedy new 4G wireless network), they’ll be uniquely positioned to take advantage of the iPhone 5’s LTE capability.
