In the wake of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s verbal smackdown with Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile and his Senate walkout, some people have been saying that, perhaps, the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) really failed to provide Trillanes with proper training.
Marvin Sy of The Philippine Star reports that Sen. Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan, a graduate of the PMA’s class of 1971, "disputed some generalizations that Sen. Trillanes was not molded well during his days at PMA."
The reprot quoted Honasan, who said, "Just look at me and Sen. (Panfilo) Lacson. [People like Trillanes] are more exemptions rather than the rule. This should not affect the institution that we all love as former soldiers." Honasan also emphasized that he’s not taking sides in the Trillanes-Enrile tiff.
