Jojo Malig of ABS-CBNNews.com reports that on Tuesday, October 16, Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founding chairman Jose Maria "Joma" Sison released a statement about Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile’s memoir. In it, Sison called the memoir "a pack of lies." Sison is living in exile in the Netherlands.

The report further quoted Sison, who said that "Enrile’s autobiography distorts history by ’whitewashing the martial law regime and absolving it of the gross and systematic human rights violations that it committed against the Filipino people.’" He also singled out Enrile’s claim that he was indeed ambushed on September 22, 1972. Sison pointed out that "Enrile [had already] admitted during the EDSA Revolution that his supposed ambush owas a fake." Sison quipped, "Now, he claims in his memoir that the ambush was real. He is engaged in flagrant lying."
