Priest says people should dress up as angels, not devils for Halloween

GMA News Online reports that Fr. Francis Lucas, in a News to Go interview, pointed out that "the public seemed to be forgetting the original purpose of observing All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day which is to honor the saints and praying for all the faithful departed."

Lucas then went on to criticize the choice of costumes of those participating in Halloween festivities. He said, "You can have a party pero hindi yung puro mga multo, hindi puro mga patayan, mga gory sceneries (You can have a party, but don’t highlight ghosts, killings, and gory sceneries)." He added that partygoers should also refrain from wearing devil costumes.

 

The report then revealed: "Asked if it would be fine with the Church if partygoers wear angel or saint costumes instead, Lucas said: "Oo, yung mga ganyan (Yes, like those)."
