Karl John C. Reyes of InterAksyon.com reports that on Tuesday, October 30, "Senator Alan Peter Cayetano defended himself and his politician-relatives from mounting calls for Congress to pass a law against political dynasties."

The report noted: "Alan, who will be seeking another term in the Senate in the May 2013 alections, is the brother of fellow senator Pia Cayetano and Lino Edgardo Cayetano, barangay chairman of Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City. Alan is also the is husband of city mayor Lani Lopez-Cayetano and son of the late senator Renato Cayetano."

The report quoted Cayetano, who said "Ang tanong dito sino ang corrupt at sino ang hindi. So, kung magkakamag-anak kayo sa gobyerno pero pare-pareho kayong malilinis, mas mabuti pa iyon [kaysa] kung isa ka lang sa gobyerno pero napaka-corrupt (The question here is who is corrupt and who isn’t. It would be better to have a family of politicians in the government with clean track record than a single government official who is so corrupt)."
