Filipino-Americans are a growing political force in America, U.S. Ambassador Harry Thomas Jr. said, pointing at four Fil-Ams vying for seats in the state legislature in elections next week.

Sara Susanne Fabunan of Manila Standard Today reports Dr. Jennifer Ong, Christopher Mateo and Rob Bonta of the California State Assembly, and Christopher Manabat of the Hawaii State House are all participating in the U.S. polls.

Thomas added that with four million Filipinos now residing in the U.S., Fil-Ams have growing political influence. "In Nevada there are over 100,000 Filipino-Americans registered voters. They all vote. Imagine how they will influence the elections," the report quotes Thomas as saying.  He added Nevada has ballots in Filipino for Fil-Am voters.
