InterAksyon.com reports that on Tuesday, November 13, Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III "took to the Senate floor and offered an apology to the family of the late New York Senator Robert Kennedy for having lifted from Kennedy’s speech without attribution." The late politician’s daughter, Kerry Kennedy, had written a letter demanding that Sotto apologize for plagiarizing her father’s speech. In any case, the report noted that Sotto added this quip to his "apology": "Copying is the highest form of flattery."

Sotto is also currently the subject of an ethics complaint filed by Dr. Sylvia Estrada-Claudio of the University of the Philippines’ Center for Women, Antonio Contreras of the De La Salle University College of Liberal Arts, and Ateneo de Manila Political Science Department director Lisandro Claudio.
