Give Spanish sardines, not the regular kind, this Christmas, priest urges would-be donors

If you’re giving away food to the needy this Christmas, try to give Spanish sardines and not the regular, less-nutritious, kind.

If you’re giving away food to the needy this Christmas, try to give Spanish sardines and not the regular, less-nutritious, kind.

This was the reminder given by Caritas Filipinas Executive Secretary Fr. Edu Gariguez to people who want to donate food packs during the Christmas season, according to a Sun.Star Online report. "May mga nutritional criteria dapat. Yun ang dapat ipaalam sa mga namimigay. Na hindi yung basta bibili ka lang ng available at mura. Meron kasi mga nagbibigay para makapagbigay lang," Gariguez said.

He said Spanish sardines are better than the regular kind in terms of nutritional value, adding "actually, kahit yung noodles, hindi kami gaano all-out sa pagbibigay kasi yung kanyang nutritional content ay mataas sa salt."
