The Metro Manila Development Authority is set to come out with new guidelines on a ban on trucks on the streets of Metro Manila at certain times of the day.

Ritchie Horario of the Manila Times reports the MMDA has proposed a uniform truck ban in Metro Manila from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. everyday except on Sundays and holidays. Truckers groups have asked to have the implementation of the ban delayed to submit positions papers and alternatives to the proposed ban.

"Definitely it will be finalized on Monday (December 3) during the meeting at the Quezon City Hall. We'll have a new truck ban scheme, the details of which I cannot say yet, but this will be finalized," MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said in the report.

At present, trucks weighing more than 4,000 kilos are banned from Metro Manila’s streets on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
