DSWD calls for donations for relief operations in areas hit hard by Typhoon Pablo

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has issued a call for donations for relief operations in areas in Mindanao affected by Typhoon Pablo.


According to the Official Gazette crisis response page, the DSWD needs the following for use in evacuation centers:

  • Banigs (sleeping mats)
  • Blankets
  • Children’s clothing
  • Tents
  • Tarpaulins
  • Flashlights and batteries
  • Generators

Donors can bring the goods to the DSWD National Resource Operations Center on Chapel Road in Pasay City (map). The DSWD can be reached through 852-8081, on Twitter at @DSWDServes, and on Facebook.


DSWD is already sending 1,000 food packs to the coastal town of Baganga in Davao Oriental. "Tomorrow morning (Thursday), two trucks will go to the coastal towns Cateel and Boston, via Monkayo, to transport more food packs. The food packs were resources of the local government units, as augmented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development," the Official Gazette said.


As of Wednesday evening, Typhoon Pablo has left at least 274 people dead, 339 injured. Another 279 people have been declared missing.
