Pacquiao 101: Lawmaker wants Manny’s life story taught in schools

Bacolod City Representative Anthony Golez has filed a resolution at the House of Representatives urging the Department of Education to teach elementary school students about boxer and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao’s life.

Bacolod City Representative Anthony Golez has filed a resolution at the House of Representatives urging the Department of Education to teach elementary school students about boxer and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao’s life.

Kathrina Alvarez of Sun.Star Online reports Golez wants Pacquiao’s life story taught in schools "so that the virtues of hard work, discipline, resilience and respect will be instilled to young Filipinos."

"(Pacquiao) is not only a world-renowned sports icon but he is also a great example of a model citizen because of his generosity and his burning desire to help less fortunate Filipinos," Golez said.

A House resolution conveys the sense of the House of Representatives on an issue but is not a proposed law.
