Gwendolyn Garcia, suspended governor of Cebu, left the provincial capitol on Sunday after staying there since the Palace ordered her  suspended in December. Her reason for leaving: her devotion to the Sto. Nino.

Flornisa Gitgano of Sun.Star Cebu reports Garcia was escorted from the capitol to the Cebu City Sports Center by police.

"Garcia, accompanied by some members of her family and escorted by the New Guardians, directly went inside a tent at the back of the stage, where she changed into her costume. She wore a long, beaded white gown designed by Cary Santiago, and danced to ’Mabuhi ka Sugbuanon,’ her signature song at Capitol events," the report said.

"I am here because my devotion supersedes everything else," she said.

Garcia was driven back to the Capitol after her performance. She has maintained that the suspension order was not served properly and that it is related to the 2013 elections. She has asked the Court of Appeals to issue a temporary restraining order on its implementation.

Earlier, Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile along with senatorial candidates of the United Nationalist Alliance paid Garcia, a political ally, at the Capitol. "We were invited by a friend to come here. And since we are already here, we have to visit a friend. It's our duty as a friend to see her, not necessarily to deal with her case but to tell her, 'How are you? How have you been?," Enrile said.
