Monster crocodile Lolong dies in Agusan del Sur

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that on Sunday night, February 10, Lolong-the male reptile that gained fame for being listed as the world’s largest crocodile in captivity in the Guinness World Records-was declared dead by Dr. Alex Cullantes of the Davao Crocodile Park.

 

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that on Sunday night, February 10, Lolong-the male reptile that gained fame for being listed as the world’s largest crocodile in captivity in the Guinness World Records-was declared dead by Dr. Alex Cullantes of the Davao Crocodile Park. The announcement was made by Bunawan, Agusan del Sur Mayor Edwin Elorde.

 

The report noted: "The cause of Lolong’s death has not yet been determined, as of posting (9:16 p.m. on February 10) and a postmortem examination is set to be conducted on Lolong on Monday, Feabruary 11." The report explained that "a team from the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau (PAWB) will be doing the postmortem."

 

The report added: "Lolong was captured in Bunawan in 2011. The reptile measured at 6.2 meters (20 feet and 4 inches) by Australian zoologist Adam Britton."
