Allegations that the administration Liberal Party-led Team PNoy coalition is using government funds on the campaign trail should be brought before the Commission on Elections, coalition spokesman Miro Quimbo said Thursday.
Kathrina Alvarez of Sun.Star Online reports Vice President Jejomar Binay, UNA president, has questioned the release of government health insurance cards as well as bags of rice in Cebu and Bohol. UNA held its proclamation rally in Cebu earlier this week and has been holding sorties in the region.
"If they have legal basis to back up their complaints, the Comelec’s door is open. The Comelec has proven its independence in acting on election-related complaints," Qumbo said.
Eastern Samar Representative Ben Evardone, a member of the Liberal Party, meanwhile said "President Aquino knows better than to dip into taxpayer’s money or public funds to finance Team PNoy."
