Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson has threatened to question Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s qualification to sit as a judge at the International Criminal Court citing her allegedly illegal use of Senate funds.

Ruby Tayag of DZMM reports Lacson  is studying the ICC’s rules on whether judges who have pending cases are allowed to serve on the tribunal. Lacson had earlier submitted documents to the Office of the Ombudsman that he said shows Santiago’s misuse of Senate funds.

Lacson has accused Santiago of using Senate funds to pay for her groceries and to pay the salaries of her housemaids. He has also said Santiago’s rental of a sattelite office in a building owned by her husband may be illegal. More recently, he has accused Santiago of using Senate funds to put up a cock-fighting arena.

The two senators have been sniping at each other since Santiago questioned the legality of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile’s distribution of Senate savings to senators’ offices. Enrile has explained the money was meant as extra Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses funds.

Lacson has called Santiago a "crusading crook" while Santiago has hinted that Lacson is gay.
