500 soldiers added to Metro Manila police force for Holy Week

Jaime Sinapit of InterAksyon.com reports that "Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Emmanuel Bautista has directed the Joint Task Force National Capital Region (JTFNCR) to place on standby at least one battalion or 500 soldiers to augment and support the 5,000 policemen deployed in Metro Manila during the Holy Week."

The report also noted: "Military spokesman Col. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr. said all military units will continue to conduct joint security operations with other security and law enforcement agencies particularly the Philippine National Police (PNP) through the Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Centers (JPSCCs) situated all over the country."
