InterAksyon.com reports that President Benigno S. Aquino III  confirmed  on Monday that he had offered positions in his Cabinet to outgoing senators Panfilo "Ping" Lacson and Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, whose terms are set to expire on June 30.
Â
The article noted that although the President refused to give details about his offer to the two men during a press briefing in Malacañang yesterday, he has been quoted in earlier reports as saying that "Pangilinan expressed willingness to help in the Agriculture department while Lacson's role in the administration would be "more general.’"
Â
Pangilinan and Lacson, both known to be President Aquino's allies, were barred from seeking re-election because they just completed two six-year terms in the Senate.
