ABS-CBN correspondent RG Cruz reports that outgoing Cagayan Rep. Jack Enrile spent the "largest amount among the senatorial candidates based on their statements of contributions and expenses (SOCEs) filed with the Commission on Elections."
According to the report, the son of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, who lost in the recent May polls, spent ₱150,401,072.09 for his campaign. His SOCE revealed that he received around P150.8 million in contributions from donors.
Other big spenders in the elections were JV Ejercito, who spent P138 million, Cynthia Villar with P134 million, Alan Cayetano with P131 million, Nancy Binay with P128 million and Bam Aquino with P124 million. Grace Poe, who topped the senatorial race, spent P123 million for her election bid.
