Comedian Sammy Lagmay, 55, dies due to complications from diabetes

Bayani San Diego Jr. of the Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that comedian Sammy Lagmay passed away on on Wednesday afternoon, June 26, due to complications brought about by diabetes. He was 55 years old.

 

The report explained that Lagmay worked as a former production office messenger before being discovered in the 1980s and becoming a mainstay on the sitcom "Chicks to Chicks" on IBC 13. He was often cast as the "put- upon sidekick" in sitcoms such as "Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata" and "George and Cecil." He also worked as an assistant director on some of ABS-CBN's shows such as "That's My Doc."

 

According to Lagmay's sister Mylene Mariano, the actor's wake is being held at St. Peter's Chapel in Novaliches, Quezon City. The funeral would be on Sunday at the Providence Memorial Park in Bulacan.
